Site Today
Baltic Wharf is a riverside industrial site around a half-mile level walk from Totnes town centre.
The site is home to a boatyard, several marine businesses and other office based and light industrial companies. Around 80 people currently work there.

The existing buildings are in a poor state and most date back to the former use of the site as Reeves timber yard when wood was imported by sea from the Baltic, hence the name!
Behind the site are another 12 acres of fields that won’t be developed but will be opened up to the public as a recreation area.
Baltic Wharf is run by TQ9 Partnership; three local families based in the Totnes area.
Both South Hams District Council and Totnes Town Council see Baltic Wharf as an important development site for the town. It is one of the few sites that would use previously developed land rather than green fields. It is also a short level walk to Totnes town centre, making it a highly sustainable site.
The priorities for any redevelopment are
- Provide significant new employment opportunities
- Protect existing marine industry and enable future growth
- Create a new recreational resource including large areas of open space, play areas for children and riverside walks
- Provide a reasonable level of housing as much as possible affordable
- Ensure high quality design and build.
