The Site Today

Baltic Wharf is a 26-acre former timber yard and fields on the banks of the river Dart in Totnes. At just 10 minutesí level walk from the town centre, the semi-dilapidated site is one of Totnesí most sustainable areas for redevelopment.

In December 2010 the site was granted outline planning permission for a mixture of home, employment and leisure space. The proposals include a £3 million investment in the boatyard, space for over 300 jobs, around 190 new homes including a co-housing scheme, a retirement village and some 12 acres of public open space.

Each part of the site needs detailed planning permission before it can be built. This is being done in phases. The first phase concerns part of the site closest to the town, which is earmarked for up to 95 homes. For details of the consultation work on phase one click here
